Grade II Listed Building Alterations
Modern alterations to a Grade II listed Georgian house in Portsmouth, Hampshire
We carried out some interesting work on a Grade II Listed house in historic Old Portsmouth split by a dark and damp courtyard. The house which at some point had been two separate dwelling did not provide satisfactory accommodation. We obtained planning consent, listed building consent, building regulations consent and supervised the contractor during the build.
By connecting the courtyard to the kitchen and dining room and through to the garden we allowed the spaces within the house to flow and make living there a pleasurable expereience. We created a sliding glass wall to the courtyard which opened it up to the house. Using the same high quality stone floor inside and outside reinforces the visual connection. Two new bathrooms on the upper levels completed our work here.
